Creative Kay is what FRIENDS call me!…

A little bit about me and how I became the creative entrepreneur I am today…

About me and how this all came about

About me

My story is a long one and I will try to go through it without boring you.

Born in 1981 my life was pretty standard until I was in my early 20s when I started to hear about this new thing called the internet that was “about to change & revolutionise the world”. Back in those days, it was frustrating because I remember having to use ‘Dial-up Internet’ to get online and it seemed to take ages just to connect!

I remember everywhere I looked hearing about all of these ‘spotty teenagers’ who were setting up websites in their bedrooms that took off big time and ended up making them rich!… I knew that I wanted my slice of this pie.

How this website came about

This website came about thanks mainly thanks to a book I read called: “Show Your Work” by Austin Kleon.

It talks about the concept of not just doing your work but showing your work online to others as you are working on it. i.e. showing the progress of the things you are working on in the hopes that others who are interested in the same things as you will like, follow and even support your digital work.

I was intrigued by this concept from the moment I came across it. The idea of showing what I was currently working on to others as I was working on it was new to me, but I liked it.

Before I read Austin’s book, I was quietly just working away in the background on projects for both myself and clients for several years; never really even thinking about possibly sharing what I was doing with others online.

My Skillsets

As you can imagine, over the years, I have gained several creative skills related to website design and development and related elements of graphic design.

My core skills are:

  • Website Design & Development
  • Graphic Design
  • SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • Content Creation & Content Marketing.

These are my core skills as an internet entrepreneur and creative, although they are not the full extent of my creative abilities.

I am always learning new skills and doing my utmost to keep up with the late trends and changes within my industry.

Purpose of this website

As an entrepreneur and creative person, I know what it can be like to have several different ‘great’ ideas on your mind—often simultaneously.

I also know the torment that can be induced by not knowing which idea you should start / ‘run with’ first and so, end up starting none of them.

I call this ‘creative block’, and it’s super common with entrepreneurial people.

Promise & commitments to clients

I endeavour to always be open & transparent with my IT and web design clients, no matter what this may entail.

I won’t be the type to unnecessarily drag projects out past their actual projected completion times.
